10-Step Nanny Qualification Process
In an effort to give you peace of mind, every nanny must pass a strict and comprehensive screening process in order to gain the Your Nanny Boutique stamp of approval. We require a lot from our nannies to instill confidence in our families and ensure the safety of your children. This extensive screening process ensures that our nannies are some of the most qualified in the industry, and that all of our nannies are true childcare professionals.
1. Initial Interview
During the initial interview, which typically takes place over the phone, we collect basic information from the applicant; everything from demographics to previous childcare experience. 2. CPR Certified If the information provided in the initial interview meets our requirements, the nanny is then required to obtain an adult and child/infant CPR certification. 3. First Aid Certified Along with CPR certification, we require all of our nannies to be First Aid certified prior to their second interview. 4. Second Interview During the second interview, which always takes place face-to-face, we take the time to get to know our nannies. We listen to them to make sure we know their expectations, and their unique approach to nannying. We ask questions regarding safety, experience, and motivation. It is at this interview that we use our intuition to separate the applicants we know would make great nannies for our families. Our applicants are required to produce CPR and First Aid certificates at this interview. |
5. Childcare Reference Verification
If the second interview is successful, we immediately get to work talking directly to references verifying employment, but more importantly learning about our applicants from their previous employers. 6. Comprehensive Background Checks After verifying references, and only if we like what we hear, we then run comprehensive background checks including, a national criminal background check, a national sex offender registry check, and a local background check in all counties the applicant has lived in the past 7 years. It's sad to say that most agencies send candidates straight to your door before running these background checks. Here at Your Nanny Boutique, we couldn't imagine that. All background checks are a part of the application process, and every candidate that you meet has successfully passed all of these checks. |
7. Authorization To Work In The United States
Along with the comprehensive background checks, we run a Social Security Number Trace on all applicants to ensure that they are legally authorized to work in the United States. 8. Lab-Based Drug Test While we are running the background checks, the applicant is required to submit to a 5-panel drug test at their closest Lab Corp or Quest Diagnostics. 9. Motor Vehicle Report Because we know most nanny positions require at least some driving, a Motor Vehicle Driving Report is obtained on each applicant. It is imperative you know this information before making a decision! 10. INA Basic Nanny Skills Certification The International Nanny Association (INA) is one of the leading and most respected resources for both parents and nannies. Once an applicant has successfully passed all other requirements in the application process, the final step is becoming INA Basic Nanny Skills Certified. This INA assessment ensures that all persons holding this certification are knowledgeable in basic childcare and child safety. All of our applicants have to pass this training and examination prior to being accepted as a candidate with Your Nanny Boutique. |
