Frequently Asked Questions |
What types of services do you provide?
We are a full-service childcare agency offering permanent, temporary, full-time and part-time, nanny placements. We also offer our Sitter Service, which provides occasional care when you need it. Do you place live-in and live-out nannies? At this time we currently only place live-out nannies. |
What is the difference between temporary nanny placements and the Sitter Service?
Our temporary nanny placements are placements of a full or part-time nanny for a minimum of one month. Our Sitter Service is a yearly membership that allows you access to our wonderful sitters. This service can be used for date nights, when your nanny takes vacation, or really any time. These placements are done on an as-needed basis. What types of nanny screening do you perform? All of our nannies are required to pass a rigorous and strict screening process. This process includes background checks, National Sex Offender Registry check, Department of Motor Vehicle report, Social Security Number Trace, and even a 5-panel drug test at their local Quest Diagnostics or Lab Corp. |
Do your nannies receive any training?
Our agency does not specifically train our nannies, but we do require that the nannies have been trained by professionals in several fields. All of our nannies are adult and child/infant CPR certified, along with being First Aid Certified. Our nannies have also completed a Nanny Basic Skills course and assessment through the International Nanny Association (INA), a highly trusted resource for both parents and nannies. Is a nanny fully screened prior to interviewing? All nannies are have pass our comprehensive screening process before being eligible to interview with a family. We couldn't imagine it any other way! Do you meet with all nannies as part of the screening process? Yes, all nannies are required to come to the agency for an interview as one of the first steps in our screening process. |
Where do family interviews with nanny candidates usually take place?
Most families choose to interview nannies right in their own home. This allows for you to get the best of both worlds, interview one-on-one while your little ones are napping, and see the nanny in action when they wake up. No need to pack the kids up to haul them with you to meet with a nanny candidate, the candidate will come to you! This is common practice, however you can rest easy knowing that Your Nanny Boutique is one of the few agencies in the area to complete full screening, including all background checks, prior to sending a nanny to your home. After selecting which nannies you'd like to interview, you will be provided with complete profiles on each candidate including their experience and credentials. Having the nanny come to you can allow you to see how each candidate interacts with your children, and get a feel for what it would be like having them in your home. It is imperative that your whole family, even the children, are completely comfortable with the nanny you decide to hire. What are the differences in qualifications between nannies and sitters? We are proud to say that our nannies and sitters are some of the most qualified in industry. Our nannies are held to a 10-step qualification, while our sitters are held to an 8-step qualification. The main reason for this is because a nanny job typically requires significantly more driving, and therefore we do not require our sitters to under go a Motor Vehicle Department check. The second qualification that is exclusive for nannies is the INA Nanny Basic Skills Exam, this is because this exam is catered towards the profession of being a nanny. It tests things such as child development and nutrition. These are things that are typically not applicable to our sitter positions. Can you check my sitter's driving record? Yes, upon request and for an additional fee, we would be happy to run a Department of Motor Vehicles report on your sitter. This is typically important if a family has the same sitter scheduled to work five (5) or more consecutive days as a nanny replacement. What are your fees? Because we are a full-service childcare agency, there are different fees associated with each type of placement. A registration fee of $250 is required prior to starting your search for a nanny, and a $250 yearly family membership is required for our Sitter Service for your first year. No other fees will be charged until a placement is made. How long does the process take? The process is a little bit different for each service we offer. For the Sitter Service, you can expect to begin utilizing the service as soon as your family is a member with us. However, nanny placement usually takes more time as it involves choosing a nanny based on interviews. The process for finding a nanny typically takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks. This is the average time beginning once your registration is complete. As this is the average, some families find their perfect match sooner, and others take longer. Every situation is different, but we are here to guide you every step of the way. How many nannies can I meet? There is no limit on the number of nannies you can meet with. Some families are comfortable hiring the first nanny they meet, and others like to meet several nannies before making a decision. We only need a weekend babysitter, can you help us? Yes! Our Sitter Service provides occasional care on an as-needed basis. Whether it's every weekend, or once in a while, we will send an excellent sitter to your door when you need one. Can I choose which babysitter I want to come to my house? All of our sitters are well-qualified and fun, no matter which sitter watches your children, they will be well taken care of. We do allow parents to choose a babysitter and we try our best to honor requests based on availability. How much do nannies usually charge, what is the going rate? Our nannies are top-notch and will become highly valued members of your family. Nanny salaries vary depending on the family's need and the experience the nanny has. With that in mind, nanny salaries can vary from $20-30 per hour. How do we pay our nanny, do we need to pay nanny taxes? Your Nanny Boutique is strictly a professional referral agency, all nannies are employees of the families they work for. For your convenience, we have partnered with the leading household payroll and tax company, HomeWork Solutions. Click here for more information and to get a free consultation to make sure you are paying your nanny the right way. What benefits are customary to offer a nanny? In order to make a competitive employment offer, families are strongly encouraged to present a benefit package including paid vacation (customary two weeks, or more), paid holidays, and paid sick time. In addition to these benefits, several families offer a contribution to health insurance premiums, school expenses, and car insurance (if nanny is using personal vehicle). What if the nanny we choose doesn't work out? We want you to be completely satisfied and confident in your decision. Your Nanny Boutique offers a three (3) month replacement policy that you will love your nanny, or we will find you a replacement. |
